While visiting my family in Cape Cod I stopped by the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouthport and had a wonderful time. For such a small house they really have an extensive amount of books, clothing, sketches and a rather hefty cat. What I enjoyed the most were the lovely little items he collected; matches, oodles of stones, glass bottles, wind up toys, even a months worth of receipts from his local restaurant. Gorey definitely appreciated the beautiful silhouettes found in everyday objects and you could really see how he turned these shapes into the intricate drawing of his little creatures.
My head drifts, connecting dots on the ceiling with stars. Counting hair follicles and fancy shoe collections. I sigh heavily and suck in. Holding the breath through to a new age. Expecting a change in molecules, but I'm here. Again and still and forever. Floating unfinished.
