Shakespeare and Company

My mummy just came back from a spontaneous trip to Paris. She made sure to bring back presents from my favorite bookstore, Shakespeare and Company. Most of them are french art books but I'm really enjoying a new biography on the love story between Abelard and Heloise who lived 900 years ago. I'm planning a trip to their tomb in the spring!

I'd rather be... in Italia!

Everything around me seems to have an Italian connection these days and it's making me pine for a return trip. I just finished my second Peggy Guggenheim biography and I've added "tour the grand canal in Venice with a lhasa apso" to the to-do list. The next day I played a riveting game of bocce ball and finished it off with some gelato. This was followed by a late night showing (in my living room) of A Room With a View and even though I'm now trapped in a pod at work, staring at the computer, I can still hear George Emerson declare, "It is fate. But call it Italy if it pleases you Vicar."

Cause nothing matters when we're dancing...

I luv, luv, luv 69 luv songs. The magnetic fields melt my heart. If only I could sing them at Karaoke night, my life would be so fufilled.

What I Learned This Week...

-If you take a plastic chicken away from a small child, she will cut you.
-My dog is obsessed with peeing on motorcycles.
-If you google-image search "adam's apple" Ann Coulter is the first thing you find.
-oh! and I want these pompoms at my wedding (to Jeff Goldblum).

I Can't Stop Buying Chairs!

I have too many chairs. It’s becoming a strange new addiction, like most girls are with shoes. But when you see this new chair in it’s pretty little home I can’t help but know I made the right decision.

Staples Who?

Cute new pens (made to look old) from Kikkerland that I picked up at the art museum gift shop. Is it wrong to want chic office supplies?

Lord Leighton

The Leighton House will always be my favorite stop in London. When studying abroad it became my little home away from home. No matter how many times I'd visit there would always be something new to discover. It's been years since I've been to England but I'm excited to see the new renovations on my return trip.

2nd Hand Means Twice the Love

Found this delightful little pin at Masterpiece Antiques for only $1.50. It's the perfect match to a beaded cardigan I bought just last month. They're both now happily hanging together in my closet. Sigh, sweater love is so hot.

Rainy Day Discoveries

Popped into the Atwood House on a raining day and fell in love with their seashell collection. It felt liked I’d stumbled upon Albertus Seba’s Cabinet of Natural Curiosities.

I Want!

The cutest little art station that I found in one of our old ReadyMades (in a loft apartment decorated by the cutest couple). Someday I will have a life that does not involve working 7 days a week. When that day comes I plan on celebrating with a pretty little room just like this.

My Tummy is Full and my Toes are Tan.

Second Cape Cod trip this summer and I'm really getting spoiled. It's been filled with museum visits, sailboat journeys, seashell collecting, bike rides, and an absurd amount of seafood. Is it wrong to drink momosas in an outdoor shower?

Two For the Road!

After only being back a month I returned to Cape Cod, this time by car and with an excellent companion. Jenny is very excited about our bathroom break in Pennsylvania.

Dog Days of Summer

Mon chien Lincoln, watching me garden from her comfy perch.

There's no place like home...

There isn't a nicer place to be in all of America than a Chatham Band Concert on Friday night. It's a kind of Leave it to Beaver perfect moment that is almost surreal. I've been coming for 28 years (my first concert was spent inside mom's womb -ew). And I still sing my heart out to every show tune, my mouth full of candy, balloon and glow stick tied to each wrist. All captured under trees and stars and bandstand lights, surrounded with white picket fences and children who know that the hokey pokey is what it's all about.

Tennesse Williams meets Popeyes Chicken

The show: Blanche Survives Katrina in a FEMA Trailer Named Desire. The verdict: Love, love, loved it!
The name pretty much sums it up.
This was FANTASTIC. We planned on hitting P-Town for a more traditional drag show but couldn't pass this up once we heard the title. It was heartfelt, thoughtful and side-splitting. I also love that I used the word "traditional" when describing a type of drag show.
